Venezuela World Youth Festival

National Youth and Student Coalition's Participation in the World Festival of Youth and Students
Aug. 7 - 15 in Caracas, Venezuela
The ANSWER National Youth and Student Coalition is sending a delegation of youth activists from around the country to Caracas, Venezuela to participate in "The World Festival of Youth and Students." From August 7 through August 15, the delegates will join thousands of progressive youth and students from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas to discuss the struggle for peace and social justice in their respective countries. The Festival will allow youth activists from the United States to travel to Venezuela and share ideas and experiences with people who are involved in the progressive changes happening there. The A.N.S.W.E.R. delegation will participate in workshops on various subjects. They will also meet with women's organizations, unions, youth groups and other organizations from all over the world.

The festival is being held in Venezuela to build solidarity with the incredible Bolivarian revolutionary process. Since the popular election of President Hugo Chavez in 1998, Venezuela has become one of the most progressive nations in Latin America. Despite threats and intimidation from the U.S. government, the people of Venezuela are making significant gains. Programs, called missions, have been instituted to erase illiteracy and to provide poor people with food, work, healthcare and other social services. It is important for activists and organizers in the U.S. anti-war movement to bring the truth about the revolutionary process taking place in Venezuela back to the American people. Upon their return from Caracas, the youth delegates will hold meetings in various cities to share their experiences in Venezuela.
